A prayer rug is a piece of cloth, sometimes a pile rug. It is used by Muslims and some Christians during prayer.

In Islam, it was placed between the ground and the worshipper for purity during various positions of Islamic prayer . These include prostration and sitting on the ground . a Muslim must perform voodoo (ablution) before prayer and must pray in a clean place.
